Toddler Program
Overview
Our toddler program is designed to be individualized to meet your child’s specific needs. A daily lesson plan is posted in the classroom for your review. Your toddler’s day will consist of indoor playtime, outside playtime, teacher directed activities, naptime and mealtimes. Toddler activities may include the following:
• Music Time
• Art Activities
• Water and Sand Play
• Story Time
• Gross Motor Activities
Our teacher directed activities are designed to introduce basic colors, numbers and shapes to your toddler. We will also incorporate circle time in this room which will help develop listening and learning skills. We recognize the importance of providing a variety of different activities in a consistent manner in our toddler room to keep each child engaged in learning and having fun.
Toddler Curriculum
Listed below are skills and concepts that are age appropriate for the toddler age, and they may be included in their daily activities.
Colors | Introduce 8 basic colors: red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, brown and black. |
Shapes | Introduce 8 basic shapes: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, star, diamond and octagon. |
Fine Motor Skills | Improve hand coordination through play using a variety of materials: play dough, puzzles, finger plays, art project, songs and more. |
Gross Motor Skills | Improve large motor skills with directed physical activities: running, jumping, hopping, climbing and more. We make children aware of general body parts. |
Language Arts | Improve language skills through circle time, songs, play, listening and discussing stories and more. |
Arts/Crafts | Simple crafts are encouraged with a variety of materials. |
